Mining sites, outdoor logistics yards and corrosive environments can expose a weighbridge to water, dust, impact and electrical surges. The right specification depends on the actual site conditions, inspection access and local approval requirements—not a single protection rating or marketing label.
Start by documenting the site’s water exposure, washdown chemicals, dust, temperature range, vehicle loads and lightning risk. Ask for the protection rating of each relevant component, including load cells and junction boxes; an IP rating on one part does not certify the whole installation. For corrosive sites, review the steel preparation and coating system. Specify explosion-protected equipment only where the site’s hazardous-area classification requires it, and verify the applicable certification. Finally, plan drainage, surge protection and safe access for periodic inspection and maintenance with the local engineer and installer.
