How We Test and Calibrate Our Truck Scales

When a new weighbridge is installed, the physical assembly is only the first half of the job. The next essential step is ensuring it weighs accurately. The photos here show our standard on-site calibration process for a newly installed truck scale.

To do this, we use heavy standard calibration weights—the large cylindrical iron weights you see on the platform. We do not just place them in the center. The weights are systematically moved across different sections of the scale deck. This allows us to test the individual response of each load cell and check for corner errors. In real-world operations, a truck rarely drives perfectly down the center line. The scale must provide the exact same reading whether the load is on the edge, the front, or the back.

We also use this process to synchronize the scale platform with the digital indicator inside the weigh house. Once the indicator consistently displays the exact known mass of the standard weights across all test points, the system is fully calibrated.

Every installation environment is different. Ground conditions and local setups can affect performance. At Fujian Keda Scales, we perform this static testing directly at the client’s site.
